FontStruct

I'm not sure how many of you have been to FontStruct, but
it's a Flash app that lets you build and download your own fonts, like so:

It's particularly suited to pixel fonts, but some designers have used it to make some incredible vector fonts as well. I've been having a lot of fun making icon fonts with it, like the smiley face font below:

By just typing normal emoticons [i.e. ":)"] you can get up to 224 different expressions. You can download my "emOTTERcons" font by going here.

Character model

This was a test avatar I built for the main character model. In hindsight, I probably didn't need this much resolution given the sprite size I was planning...

Some characters from a side project I've been fiddling with.

Sgt. Ryka

Combining the rugged good looks of James Ford and the whiny angst of Hayden Christiansen.

No! Wait! I thought you were blind!

Being blind makes it hard for your character to gaze dramatically into the binary sunset.

Those blue elephanty guys from Star Wars

Reading the title of my post, you might think I don't know what those guys are actually called. But if that's what you think, you're wrong. I'm far too huge a nerd not to know that. This is Ooli Bet, my wife's character from our new Star Wars campaign.

Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy

I painted this portrait for my sister-in-law, who adores the Master of Pemberly. For Christmas, we printed her out a copy on a one-sheet.

I don't think I quite captured his brooding indifference. Perhaps he needs a window to stare out of, or a speech bubble with a curt observation in it.

Gun Priest

So my friend Brent and his wife Virginia are working on this sweet RPG/CG setting that I'm not supposed to talk about probably, but I made a character for it, displayed at the right.

It's a head

Look, it's Emily from my figure drawing class. Like Emily "Trisha" Tyndall from Napoleon Dynamite. She has a blog too. No, it did not take me 3 hours to do the shading on her upper lip.

Ancient Tak Art

Hooray old Tak art! If I recall correctly this was done after Tak and the Power of Juju but before staff of dreams. Ancient man.
